Good morning. It’s Sunday, May 10th, aka Mothers Day!

🥳 Congratulations on starting today with God, and thank you for letting us be a part of it.

📖 Verse Of The Day

— John 6:9

🧠 Devotional

There’s a quote that goes like this:

“You’re not enough, but neither was five loaves and two fish, and look what Jesus did with that.”

Now let’s break this down and line it up with what the Bible actually says.

Let’s start with the first part: “you’re not enough.”

As negative as that sounds, it’s easy to misunderstand. There’s a difference between not being enough and being worthless.

Those are not the same thing.

Not being enough actually means you do have something, it’s just not enough by itself.
Being worthless would mean you have nothing at all.

So this isn’t saying you’re worthless. It’s saying you’re not meant to be enough on your own.

And that lines up with what Jesus says:

“Apart from me you can do nothing.”
— John 15:5

At the same time, the Bible is clear that you do have value:

“For we are God’s handiwork…”
— Ephesians 2:10

So both are true at the same time.

You have value. But you’re not meant to rely on yourself.

Now look at the second part of the quote, the loaves and fish.

“Five small barley loaves and two small fish… but how far will they go among so many?”
— John 6:9

There were about five thousand men there, not even counting women and children, and what they had wasn’t enough.

“He gave thanks and broke the loaves… and gave them to the disciples to distribute.”
— Matthew 14:19

Jesus takes what they have and starts handing it out.

And somehow, as it’s being passed out, it doesn’t run out.

“They all ate and were satisfied… and picked up twelve basketfuls left over.”
— Matthew 14:20

So know this: Just like Jesus took five loaves and two fish that logically weren’t enough and used them anyway, He can use you in the same way when you feel like you’re not enough.

🙏 Prayer (Guided by A.C.T.S.)

When you’re not sure how to pray, A.C.T.S. gives you a simple path to follow: Adore, Confess, Thank, and Ask.

Adoration: Lord, thank You for being enough when I’m not.

Confession: Forgive me for relying more on myself than on You.

Thanksgiving: Thank You for using small things in big ways.

Supplication: Help me trust You with what little I have.

In Jesus name, Amen
