🧠 Devotional
Perspective is everything.
And interestingly enough, in the New International Version, the word “perspective” doesn’t appear anywhere. It’s a more modern word, but that doesn’t mean the Bible doesn’t talk about it.
In Colossians 3:2, it says, “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”
That is perspective.
And here’s a perspective I want you to keep in mind:
Be so confident in God’s plan that you don’t even get upset anymore when things don’t go your way.
What this means is this. When you’re trusting your own plan, everything is on you, so when things go wrong, it feels final and frustrating because it might actually be a failure.
But when you trust God’s plan, things not going your way doesn’t mean things are going wrong, it means they might be part of something necessary.
And the Bible makes this clear.
In Jeremiah 29:11, it says, “For I know the plans I have for you… plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future,” showing that God does have a plan, even when you can’t see it.
And in Romans 8:28, it says, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God,” showing that even when something goes wrong in your eyes, it can still be part of something good in God’s plan.
In Proverbs 3:5–6, it says, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding… and he shall direct thy paths,” showing that we’re not meant to rely on how things look to us, but trust that God is directing things.
So the point of today’s newsletter is this: be so confident in God’s plan that you don’t get upset anymore when things don’t go your way.
