Did you know the Bible says God sings over you?

In Zephaniah 3:17 (NIV), it says:
“The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.”

What makes this verse so powerful is where it shows up.

Zephaniah is not a soft, feel-good book at first. It starts with warning, judgment, and God calling out sin. Earlier in the book, God says things like, “I will sweep away everything from the face of the earth…” and “That day will be a day of wrath… a day of distress and anguish.”

So when you finally get to Zephaniah 3:17, the tone has completely changed. God is no longer just warning His people, He is restoring them.

And that’s what makes the singing part so amazing.

God doesn’t just say, “I forgive you.” He doesn’t just say, “I’ll take you back.” He doesn’t just say, “I’ll stop being angry.” He says He will rejoice over His people with singing.

That means the verse is not just showing what God does, it is showing His heart. He is with His people, He saves them, He delights in them, and then He sings over them.

The same God who judges sin is also the God who restores His people with joy, and His joy is so real that the Bible describes it as singing.

And it’s not the only place the Bible talks like this. In Isaiah 62:5 (NIV), it says, “As a bridegroom rejoices over his bride, so will your God rejoice over you.”

So when the Bible says He “rejoices over you with singing,” it’s showing that His joy is real and personal.

So the point of today’s newsletter is this: God doesn’t just save you, He takes so much joy in you that He rejoices over you with singing.

Adoration: God, You are near, loving, and faithful.

Confession: Forgive me for doubting Your love for me.

Thanksgiving: Thank You for saving me and rejoicing over me with joy.

Supplication: Help me rest in the truth that You delight in Your people.
