🧠 Devotional

There’s a question a lot of people ask at some point:

Why did God create us?

The Bible actually gives a clear answer, and when you really look at it, it comes down to one main reason.

God created us for His glory.

Isaiah 43:7 says:

“Everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.”

That’s the foundation, and everything else in the Bible builds off of that.

From the beginning, we see that we were made in His image (Genesis 1:27), which means our lives are meant to reflect Him. We were created to know Him (Jeremiah 9:23–24), and even after salvation, it says we are “created in Christ Jesus to do good works” (Ephesians 2:10). So these aren’t separate purposes, they’re all ways we live out that one reason.

Knowing God brings Him glory. Living for Him brings Him glory. The way we live day to day is meant to point back to Him. That’s why John 15:8 says:

“This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.”

So when you step back, it becomes simple.

We weren’t created just to exist or to chase whatever we want. We were created to live in a way that reflects God and points back to Him.

So if God created us for His glory, how are we meant to live?

The Bible answers that clearly.

Ecclesiastes 12:13 says:

“Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind.”

And 1 Corinthians 10:31 says:

“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”

So our responsibility is to live for Him in everything, to obey Him, and to reflect Him in the way we live, because that’s what we were created for in the first place.

So know this: you were created for God’s glory, and your life finds its purpose when it reflects Him in everything you do.

Adoration: God, I praise You for creating me with purpose and for Your glory.

Confession: Forgive me for the times I live for myself instead of reflecting You.

Thanksgiving: Thank You for making me in Your image and giving my life meaning.

Supplication: Help me to live in a way that brings You glory in everything I do.

In Jesus name, Amen
