Good morning. It’s Friday, April 3rd.
🥳 Congratulations on starting today with God, and thank you for letting us be a part of it.

📖 Verse Of The Day

— John 19:30

🧠 Devotional
There are 2 days until Easter, and today we’re looking at the moment Jesus is crucified. This is where everything He said would happen takes place.
And these verses tell the story:
Luke 23:33–34 (NIV)
33 When they came to the place called the Skull, they crucified him there, along with the criminals, one on his right, the other on his left.
34 Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.
John 19:30 (NIV)
30 When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
Luke 23:46 (NIV)
46 Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.” When he had said this, he breathed his last.
Jesus is led to the place called the Skull and crucified between two criminals, even though He did nothing wrong. He is mocked, beaten, and treated like a criminal, while the people around Him watch and the soldiers divide up His clothes.
And in the middle of all of that, instead of anger or defending Himself, He says, “Father, forgive them.” Even while He is being crucified, His response is still mercy.
As He hangs there, He knows everything has now been completed. Every part of God’s plan, everything the Scriptures pointed to, has led to this moment.
Then He says, “It is finished.” He’s not saying He’s done because He can’t go on, He’s declaring that the work is done. The payment for sin has been made, and nothing is left unfinished.
Then He calls out, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit,” and gives up His life. It isn’t taken from Him. He chooses to lay it down.
This is the moment everything changes.
So at the end of the day, Jesus is showing us this: He didn’t lose His life, He gave it, and He finished the work completely.
