🧠 Devotional
You’ve probably heard the saying.
You’ve probably seen the movie.
You’ve probably listened to the song.
“God’s not dead.”
It’s a phrase that shows up on T-shirts, playlists, and social posts. It sounds bold. Confident. Certain. But underneath it is a real question many people wrestle with, even if they don’t say it out loud.
Is God still here. Is He still working. Or does faith just feel louder in the past than it does now.
The Bible doesn’t avoid that tension. In fact, some of the most important moments in Scripture happen when it looks like God has gone quiet.
After Jesus was crucified, His followers weren’t celebrating. They weren’t confident. They were afraid. Locked in rooms. Wondering if everything they believed had just fallen apart. From the outside, it looked like hope had died with Him.
But that wasn’t the end of the story.
The resurrection didn’t happen in front of crowds or with announcements. It happened early in the morning. Quietly. Personally. And it changed everything. Paul puts it bluntly in 1 Corinthians 15:14 when he says that if Christ wasn’t raised, faith is empty. Christianity doesn’t rest on feelings or tradition. It rests on a living Jesus.
That’s why Jesus says in John 11:25, “I am the resurrection and the life.” Not I was. Not I will be. I am.
God being alive doesn’t mean life always feels dramatic or spiritual. Sometimes faith feels strong. Sometimes it feels thin. Sometimes God feels close. Sometimes He feels distant. But distance in feeling isn’t the same as distance in reality.
Jesus promised in Matthew 28:20 that He would be with us always. Not when belief is popular. Not when life is easy. Always. Even in doubt. Even in silence. Even when faith feels more like a choice than a feeling.
Scripture is full of people who questioned God. David asked where God was. Elijah was exhausted and wanted to quit. Thomas needed proof. None of them were turned away for being honest. God met them where they were.
Romans 8:11 reminds us that the same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead lives in us. That means God isn’t distant or passive. He’s present, even on ordinary days that don’t feel especially spiritual.
So when people say “God’s not dead,” it’s not meant to be a slogan. It’s a reminder. God is alive in quiet faith. Alive in waiting. Alive in doubt that keeps showing up anyway.
Today’s reminder: Faith isn’t about never questioning. It’s about trusting that God is still at work, even when you can’t see it yet.

Adoration: God, You are alive, faithful, present, powerful, loving, unchanging, sovereign, eternal.
Confession: I confess doubting You, trusting myself, fearing silence, and forgetting Your promises.
Thanksgiving: Thank You for Jesus, for the resurrection, and constant presence.
Supplication: Help me trust You daily, strengthen my faith, and follow your steps.
In Jesus name, Amen
