🧠 Devotional
The Bible never tells people to sit still and wait for life to happen. It shows God guiding people who are already moving.
Proverbs 16:9 (NIV) says,
“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps.”
God establishes steps. Steps only exist if someone is walking. Scripture consistently connects God’s guidance to action, not inactivity.
Psalm 37:23 (NIV) says,
“The LORD makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him.”
Not the intentions. Not the ideas. The steps.
This matters because many people confuse waiting on God with doing nothing. But biblical waiting is active trust, not passive delay. It is obedience while trusting God with the outcome.
When Israel stood at the Red Sea, God did not give a long speech about patience or timing.
Exodus 14:15 (NIV) says,
“Tell the Israelites to move on.”
The sea did not part while they stood still. Movement came first. God acted after obedience began.
The same pattern appears when Joshua led Israel into the promised land.
Joshua 3:15–16 (NIV) says the Jordan River stopped only after the priests stepped into it.
God did the miracle, but only after obedience.
Jesus taught this same truth through His interactions with His disciples. When Peter wanted to walk on water, Jesus did not explain how it would work or guarantee the outcome.
Matthew 14:29 (NIV) says,
“Then Peter got down out of the boat.”
No step. No miracle.
Scripture also makes it clear that God rarely reveals the entire plan at once.
Psalm 119:105 (NIV) says,
“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”
A lamp does not show miles ahead. It shows enough to take the next step. God gives guidance as we need it, not all at once.
Waiting on God does not mean refusing to move. It means moving in obedience while trusting Him with the direction.
Proverbs 3:5–6 (NIV) says,
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
Submission comes before straight paths.
God promises to guide. He promises to lead. But throughout Scripture, He leads people who are already rowing.
Take the step in front of you. God will handle the steering.

🙏 Prayer (Guided by A.C.T.S.)
When you’re not sure how to pray, A.C.T.S. gives you a simple path to follow: Adore, Confess, Thank, and Ask.
Adoration: God, You guide faithful steps and steer lives with perfect wisdom.
Confession: I admit waiting in fear instead of moving in obedience.
Thanksgiving: Thank You for guiding my steps even when the path feels unclear.
Supplication: Help me take the next step, trusting You to direct.
In Jesus name, Amen
