📖 Verse Of The Day

🧠 Devotional

It is easy to assume that if something takes too long, something must be wrong.

That assumption works its way into how people think about faith, growth, and even God. When answers are delayed or clarity does not come quickly, impatience follows.

Then there is the Bible.

The Bible was not written quickly. It did not come together in one lifetime or even a few. From Genesis to Revelation, it took about 1,500 years to be written. Dozens of writers were involved, separated by centuries, cultures, and circumstances. Many of them never knew how their words would eventually fit into the larger story.

Some wrote as kings. Others wrote as prisoners. Some experienced victory. Others wrote while waiting, suffering, or questioning. Their lives were very different, but the message remained consistent.

Scripture explains why this unity exists. Prophecy did not originate in human will, but people spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

2 Peter 1:21 NIV

God was not rushed. Truth was revealed at the right time, not all at once. Promises were made and sometimes generations passed before fulfillment came. Scripture even prepares readers for that kind of waiting.

For the revelation awaits an appointed time. Though it linger, wait for it.

Habakkuk 2:3 NIV

That kind of waiting is uncomfortable in a world shaped by speed. Fast answers and instant results have become the expectation. When God moves slowly or quietly, it can be mistaken for absence. But Scripture offers a different explanation.

The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you.

2 Peter 3:9 NIV

Here is the perspective worth holding onto.

If God was willing to take 1,500 years to write His Word, slowness may not be a flaw. It may be part of how God works. The long timeline of Scripture reveals a God who values depth over speed and faithfulness over immediacy.

That perspective changes how waiting is understood.

The same God who patiently revealed His Word continues His work in people. Growth is not rushed. Change is not forced. Completion is promised.

He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

Philippians 1:6 NIV

The takeaway is simple.

God’s pace is intentional. Waiting is not wasted time. And just as Scripture was written carefully over centuries, God’s work in a life unfolds with purpose, not haste.

🙏 Prayer (Guided by ACTS)

When you’re not sure how to pray, A.C.T.S. gives you a simple path to follow: Adore, Confess, Thank, and Ask.

Adoration: Faithful God, You work patiently across generations and never rush truth.

Confession: Forgive impatience when waiting feels like absence or delay.

Thanksgiving: Thank you for steady promises fulfilled in perfect timing.

Supplication: Teach trust while Your work unfolds slowly and faithfully.

In Jesus name, Amen
