🧠 Devotional

There’s a quote that goes like this:

“If the tomb is empty… anything is possible.”

This quote most closely resembles these verses:

In Gospel of Matthew it says:

Matthew 28:6 (NIV)

“He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.”

And earlier in the same book it says:

Matthew 19:26 (NIV)

“Jesus looked at them and said, ‘With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.’”

Let’s expand on that.

If Jesus really did rise from the dead and defeat death itself, then that changes everything, because death is the most final thing we know. It’s the one thing no one escapes, the one thing no one reverses, the thing that makes everything else feel permanent.

But here’s what’s crazy about the resurrection.

Jesus didn’t just come back to life like a near-death experience. He was publicly executed, buried, and then rose again. That’s not just unlikely… that’s impossible by human standards.

Which is exactly the point.

Because when Jesus says, “with God all things are possible,” the resurrection becomes the ultimate example of that statement. It’s not just a teaching, it’s proof.

And the Bible keeps connecting these ideas.

In Book of Romans it says:

Romans 8:11 (NIV)

“And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.”

So the same power that raised Jesus from the dead isn’t just something that happened once, it’s something God still has.

And if God has power over death, then there is nothing outside of His power.

So when people say, “If the tomb is empty… anything is possible,” it’s not just a catchy quote.

It’s a logical conclusion.

🙏 Prayer (Guided by A.C.T.S.)

Adoration: God, nothing is impossible for You.

Confession: I don’t always trust that.

Thanksgiving: Thank You for the resurrection.

Supplication: Help me trust You more.

In Jesus name, Amen
