🧠 Devotional

Did you know that the Bible begins and ends with the Tree of Life?

So it starts in the Book of Genesis saying this:

Genesis 2:9 (NIV)

“The LORD God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground—trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. In the middle of the garden were the tree of life…”

Genesis 2:10 (NIV)

“A river watering the garden flowed from Eden…”

At the very beginning, the Tree of Life is placed right in the middle of the garden, and a river flows out of Eden. Both are showing that life comes from God.

And it ends in the Book of Revelation saying this:

Revelation 22:1–2 (NIV)

“Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life… flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb…

On each side of the river stood the tree of life…”

At the very end, you see the same picture again, but now everything is restored. The Tree of Life is in the middle again, and now the river is flowing from the throne of God.

In the beginning, the Tree of Life was in the middle of the garden… and in the end, it’s in the middle again.

In the beginning, a river flowed out of Eden… and in the end, a river flows from the throne of God.

And this isn’t random.

The Bible even says in Isaiah 46:10 (NIV) that God is “making known the end from the beginning,” showing that what happens at the end was already being pointed to from the start.

And in Luke 24:27 (NIV), after His resurrection, Jesus explained “what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself,” showing that the whole Bible is connected and telling one story.

So when you see the Tree of Life in the beginning and then again at the end, it’s not just a cool detail.

It’s intentional.

It shows that yes, the Bible is made up of 66 different books written across different times… but it’s also one complete story at the same time.
