🧠 Devotional

There’s a quote that goes like this:

“The enemy likes to hide wolves in sheep’s clothing, but that’s okay, because our God likes to hide lions inside of lambs.”

A wolf in sheep’s clothing is something dangerous that looks harmless. It looks safe on the outside, but underneath it isn’t. That’s how the enemy works. He doesn’t usually show up in obvious ways, he disguises what’s harmful so it looks good, safe, or even right.

Jesus warns about this directly in Matthew 7:15 when He says,

“Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.”

And it goes even deeper in 2 Corinthians 11:14,

“Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.”

So the danger isn’t always obvious. It can look like something you’d trust.

But God works the opposite way.

A lion inside of a lamb is something that looks weak, small, or ordinary on the outside, but actually has real strength inside. God takes what looks unimpressive and puts boldness, courage, and power inside of it.

That’s exactly what you see in Proverbs 28:1,

“the righteous are as bold as a lion.”

And it’s not because of how they look on the outside, it’s because of what God has put inside them. 1 Corinthians 1:27 says,

“God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong,”

which means what looks weak isn’t actually weak when God is in it.

You see this clearly in real stories too. In 1 Samuel 17, David looks like a shepherd boy standing in front of a giant, but he says,

“I come against you in the name of the Lord.”

On the outside he looks like a lamb, but in that moment he has the boldness of a lion.

And the Bible explains why in 2 Corinthians 12:9,

“My power is made perfect in weakness.”

God doesn’t just use strong people, He shows His strength through people who look weak.

The point of all this is this: the enemy makes something bad look good on the outside, but God makes something that looks weak on the outside actually strong on the inside.
