📖 Verse Of The Day

🧠 Devotion

This is a question a lot of Christians wonder about. Do spiritual gifts still exist. Does God actually give them. And if He does, who receives them. The Bible answers all of these questions clearly, and the answer is yes. God gives spiritual gifts, and He gives them to every believer.

The clearest place this shows up is in First Corinthians chapter twelve verse seven. “To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.” The words to each mean everyone who belongs to Jesus. Not the most mature Christians. Not the people who serve the most. Every believer receives something from the Holy Spirit that is meant to help others.

Romans chapter twelve verse six says, “We have different gifts according to the grace given to each of us.” This shows two things. First, every Christian has a gift. Second, these gifts are given by grace, which means God gives them freely. They are not earned or based on talent. They come from the Spirit.

First Peter chapter four verse ten adds another important detail. “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others.” Peter does not say if you have a gift. He says whatever gift you have received. Scripture treats spiritual gifts as something every believer already has, not something only a few people get.

Even in the Old Testament, God gave people special abilities for what He called them to do. In Exodus chapter thirty one, God filled Bezalel with the Spirit and gave him skill, intelligence, and craftsmanship to help build the tabernacle. The pattern stays consistent. When God gives someone a purpose, He also gives them the ability to carry it out.

So what kinds of gifts does God give. The Bible lists many of them.

Teaching. Helping people understand truth.

Serving. Meeting practical needs.

Encouragement. Strengthening and comforting others.

Giving. Meeting needs with generosity.

Leadership. Guiding people with wisdom.

Mercy. Caring for people who are hurting.

Wisdom. Knowing what to do in uncertain situations.

Faith. Trusting God when others doubt.

Discernment. Recognizing what is from God and what is not.

Administration. Organizing, planning, and bringing order.

Evangelism. Sharing Jesus in a way people can understand.

There are more, but the point is simple. God gives different gifts because His people have different roles. No one has every gift. No one is supposed to. The church is like a body, and each person is a different part. Your gift is designed to support others, and their gifts support you.

So does God give spiritual gifts. Yes. Scripture is clear. If you belong to Jesus, the Holy Spirit has already placed something in you. It may be quiet. It may feel small. It may even feel ordinary to you. But God gave it to you on purpose, and He intends to use it.

🙏 Prayer (Guided by ACTS)

When you’re not sure how to pray, A.C.T.S. gives you a simple path to follow: Adore, Confess, Thank, and Ask.

Adoration: God, I praise You for giving every believer a gift and a purpose.

Confession: Forgive me for doubting or ignoring the gift you placed in me.

Thanksgiving: Thank you for equipping Your people and giving me something to serve others with.

Supplication: Help me understand my gift and use it the way You want.

In Jesus name, Amen
