🧠 Devotional
Here is a quote that should make you laugh but should also make you think, and it goes like this:
“When God put a calling over your life, he already factored in your stupidity. So relax.”
Now let’s break down this quote and relate it to verses in the Bible.
Let’s start with the first part: when God put a calling over your life.
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
— Ephesians 2:10
This shows that God does give purpose and direction to our lives. It’s not random. He already has things planned for us to walk in.
Now let’s break down the second part of this quote: he already factored in your stupidity, so relax.
Obviously, that wording is meant to be funny. But the idea behind it is actually very real.
The Bible is clear that we’re not perfect. We make bad decisions. We mess up. We can be foolish.
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
— Romans 3:23
And God knows that. None of it surprises Him.
“He knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust.”
— Psalms 103:14
And you actually see this play out in real people in the Bible.
Peter literally pulled Jesus aside and started correcting Him, telling Him He was wrong about what was going to happen (see Matthew 16:22–23).
Like… correcting Jesus.
And God still used him anyway.
So it’s not like God gives you a calling and then hopes you don’t mess it up.
He already knows you’re going to struggle. He already knows you’re going to make mistakes.
And even with that, He still chooses you.
That’s the point.
It’s not that our mistakes don’t matter… it’s that God isn’t caught off guard by them.
And He’s still working through you anyway.
So know this: God’s plan for your life isn’t fragile. He already knows your flaws, and He’s still not done with you.
