📖 Verse Of The Day

🧠 Devotion
This devotional really begins with what Scripture shows plainly. The crucifixion wasn’t quiet or out of sight. John 19 says Jesus was taken to Golgotha. Matthew 27 says people walking by “looked at Him” as they passed. Luke 23 says crowds “stood watching.” The Bible doesn’t gloss over the setting. It keeps pointing out how public it was.
And Jesus wasn’t pushed into something He didn’t choose. In John 10 He says, “No one takes my life from me. I lay it down of my own accord.” He knew the cross was public. He stepped into it anyway. His love wasn’t whispered. It was visible.
That’s why the title matters. If Jesus didn’t hide His love for you, hiding your faith in Him doesn’t line up with the way He lived.
Jesus explains this with simple images. In Matthew 5 He says, “You are the light of the world.” Then He adds that a city on a hill can’t be hidden. You can try, but everyone still sees it. He follows it with another picture. A lamp is supposed to give light to the whole house. You don’t turn one on and then cover it. And then He says, “Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father.” Not glorify you. Glorify God.
Peter echoes the same idea. In 1 Peter 2:12 he says to live such good lives among people that even those who disagree with you still notice your actions. They may not love your beliefs, but they can’t ignore your character.
Paul talks about this too. Philippians 2:15 says to shine like lights in the world. Galatians 5 lists the fruit of the Spirit — love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Those aren’t secret traits. They show up where people can see them.
Acts gives a picture of this in everyday life. Acts 2 describes believers praying together, sharing meals, helping anyone in need, worshiping gladly, and living with sincerity. The passage says people noticed and responded. Their faith wasn’t hidden because their lives weren’t hidden.
That’s usually what “not living for Him in private” means today. It’s not about being loud. Jesus never commanded volume. He commanded visibility.
It looks like kindness in places that don’t expect it.
Patience that surprises even you.
Honesty when a lie would clean things up faster.
Forgiveness that interrupts the normal cycle.
Joy that isn’t based on everything going right.
These things don’t shout, but they can’t hide either.
Jesus didn’t hide His love for you. You don’t have to hide your faith in Him.
